Do you believe in karma? The idea that what goes around comes around, that our actions have consequences, and that we reap what we sow? If you do, then you might agree with me that karma is not only a law of nature, but also a way of justice. Karma ensures that we get what we deserve, and that we learn from our mistakes.
But what if I told you that there is a way to transcend karma, to escape the cycle of birth and death, and to attain a state of bliss and peace that is beyond any worldly pleasure or pain? What if I told you that there is a way to become enlightened, and that enlightenment is not a myth, but a reality?
What is Enlightenment?
Enlightenment is a term that is often used in various spiritual traditions, such as Sufism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and others. It refers to a state of awareness, understanding, and wisdom that is beyond the ordinary human condition. Enlightenment is not something that can be achieved by following a set of rules, rituals, or dogmas. It is not something that can be given by a guru, a teacher, or a scripture. It is not something that can be measured by a test, a certificate, or a title.
Enlightenment is something that can only be experienced by oneself, through one’s own inner transformation. Enlightenment is something that can only be realized by oneself, through one’s own direct perception of the truth. Enlightenment is something that can only be expressed by oneself, through one’s own authentic and compassionate action.
How to Become Enlightened?
There are many paths to enlightenment, and each one has its own methods, techniques, and practices. However, there is one common element that is essential for any seeker of enlightenment: meditation. Meditation is the art of focusing one’s attention on the present moment, on the breath, on the body, on the sensations, on the thoughts, on the feelings, or on any object of awareness. Meditation is the skill of observing one’s mind, without judging, reacting, or identifying with it. Meditation is the discipline of cultivating one’s awareness, without attachment, aversion, or ignorance.
Meditation is the key to enlightenment, because it helps us to see things as they are, not as we think they are. Meditation helps us to dissolve the illusions that we create with our mind, such as the ego, the self, the identity, the personality, the roles, the labels, the beliefs, the opinions, the preferences, the biases, the prejudices, the expectations, the fears, the desires, the attachments, the aversions, the regrets, the resentments, the guilt, the shame, the anger, the hatred, the jealousy, the envy, the greed, the pride, the arrogance, the ignorance, and so on.
Meditation helps us to realize that we are not our mind, that we are not our thoughts, that we are not our feelings, that we are not our body, that we are not our name, that we are not our history, that we are not our story, that we are not our problems, that we are not our achievements, that we are not our possessions, that we are not our relationships, that we are not our roles, that we are not our labels, that we are not our identity, that we are not our ego.
Meditation helps us to discover that we are something else, something deeper, something higher, something more profound, something more sublime, something more divine. Meditation helps us to discover that we are pure awareness, pure consciousness, and pure bliss.
What Happens When You Become Enlightened?
When you become enlightened, you experience a radical shift in your perception of reality. You see things clearly, without distortion, without confusion, without delusion. You see things as they are, not as you want them to be, not as you fear them to be, not as you imagine them to be. You see things with wisdom, with insight, with understanding. You see things with compassion, with kindness, with love.
When you become enlightened, you experience a profound change in your relationship with yourself, with others, and with the world. You no longer identify with your ego, with your mind, with your body, with your name, with your story, with your identity. You no longer suffer from the afflictions of the mind, such as ignorance, attachment, aversion, and so on. You no longer feel separate, isolated, lonely, alienated, or disconnected. You no longer feel insecure, inadequate, unworthy, or inferior. You no longer feel anxious, worried, fearful, or stressed. You no longer feel angry, resentful, hateful, or violent. You no longer feel jealous, envious, greedy, or possessive. You no longer feel proud, arrogant, conceited, or superior.
When you become enlightened, you realize that you are one with everything, that you are connected to everything, that you are part of everything, that you are everything. You realize that you are not a drop in the ocean, but the ocean in a drop. You realize that you are not a wave on the surface, but the depth of the sea. You realize that you are not a ray of light, but the source of all light. You realize that you are not a spark of life, but the origin of all life. You realize that you are not a human being, but a divine being.
When you become enlightened, you live in the present moment, in the here and now, in the eternal now. You are not bound by the past, by the memories, by the regrets, by the guilt, by the shame. You are not limited by the future, by the plans, by the expectations, by the hopes, by the fears. You are free from the constraints of time, space, and causality. You are free from the illusions of duality, of separation, of distinction, of difference. You are free from the bondage of karma, of action and reaction, of cause and effect, of birth and death.
When you become enlightened, you are happy, peaceful, joyful, and blissful. You are content, satisfied, fulfilled, and complete. You are grateful, appreciative, thankful, and blessed. You are generous, giving, sharing, and serving. You are loving, caring, compassionate, and kind. You are wise, intelligent, creative, and innovative. You are authentic, honest, truthful, and sincere. You are humble, modest, simple, and natural. You are beautiful, radiant, luminous, and glorious.
How to Start Your Journey to Enlightenment?
If you are interested in becoming enlightened, or at least in exploring the possibility of enlightenment, then I have some good news for you: you can start right now, right here, right where you are. You don’t need to go anywhere, to do anything, to have anything, to be anything. You just need to be yourself, to be aware, to be present, to be mindful, to be meditative.
